FDEP- Public Workshops regarding Numeric Nutrient Standards for Florida’s Surface Waters
The Department has scheduled two public workshops to present draft rule language revising Chapters 62-302 and 62-303, F.A.C., to numerically interpret the narrative nutrient standard on a site-specific basis. As was the case for the previous set of workshops in June that presented the Department’s basic concept for this rulemaking, both workshops will cover the same material.

FDEP Public Meeting of Peer Review Committee to Review Dissolved Oxygen Analyses
The Department has formed a Peer Review Committee, comprised of scientific experts outside the Department, to provide technical review of dissolved oxygen (DO) analyses for surface waters conducted by the Department and proposed DO criteria for fresh and marine waters. This is a follow-up to the public meeting held in June 2011 in Tallahassee and Leesburg.

SJRWMD Water Atlas Program Seminar
The Environmental Sciences Division of the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) is hosting a seminar by Dr. Jim Griffin. Jim is a research scientist with the Florida Center for Community Design and Research and responsible for the Water Atlas Program. Wateratlas.org is the gateway to a group of websites developed by the Florida Center for Community Design + Research at the University of South Florida in partnership with local, state and federal government agencies. Its goal is to design a comprehensive data resource, eventually covering the State of Florida that helps citizens and scientists alike make informed decisions concerning our vital water resources. EPA Extends deadline/FDEP Public Meetings to discuss Florida’s Estuarine and Coastal Water Numeric Nutrient Criteria Reports
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the deadlines for the proposed establishment of numeric nutrient criteria for Florida’s estuarine and coastal waters by ten months. Both the letter to the Department as well as the Joint Notice to the Court are posted to the Department’s website at http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/wqssp/nutrients/federal.htm .
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) conducted public meetings around the state in early 2010 to discuss the development of numeric nutrient criteria for estuarine and coastal systems, and is preparing reports based on these meetings and subsequent analyses. They will be posted to the Departments website:http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/wqssp/nutrients/estuarine.htm
